Orixá

Orixá has an interesting story, I was trying to write a song about "Cachaça", the Brazilian sugar cane rum. I started writing it from bridge and when I introduced section A to the song it asked for some lyrics.
I had just finished teaching a summer class about the Orixás, the African deities, and when I tried to put words in the lyrics the only thing that came out of my mouth was the Orixás names.
With that I changed the Cachaça word to Orixá in the lyrics and the whole tune made sense. A Samba Jazz came to life.

This song uses the good Brazilian samba as a background for the mood, a jazz form with soloing instruments, the lyrics are written in Yoruba, an African language, representing the merging of three cultures
