I think many of you haven't heard the full band, it is a 7 piece with its own approach on the Bossa and Samba tunes blending with jazz, with the rhythm session featuring Dylan Moffiitt on drums and percussion, Liam Smith on percussion, plus Paul Ferguson on trombone, Jacob Wynne on trumpet, Matthew Horwich on tenor sax and Gary Aprile on electric bass. We will record live, it should be a fun night!

Our panelists will be professionals in Brazilian Percussion such as Marcus Santos (Boston), Diego Figueiredo ( Sao Paulo), Jamie Haddad (Oberlin) Fabio Gomes (Rio de Janeiro), Dylan Moffitt (Cleveland), Patrick Duke (Dubai), , Pato Irie (Toronto), Alex Bordokas (Toronto). We will be exploring the challenges of learning the Brazilian style from a foreign perspective versus being a native, while showing different percussive accents in different groups of beats. A brief introduction to the history of samba dancing and an interactive practice session from its first steps into the full execution by Ms. Alysia Ramos! Ms. Ramos is currently on faculty at Oberlin College as an Assistant Professor of Dance with a specific emphasis on hybrid, intercultural and transnational movement practices. She received her MFA from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City where she also became a member of Samba Fogo, a company dedicated to sharing Brazilian culture through music in dance. She has since studied Samba and other Afro-Brazilian dances under master teacher Jorge Alabe in Rio de Janeiro. FREE.

The ABCAI is a series of interactive educational experiences aimed at spreading awareness about Brazilian culture and tradition in school's, communities and public events throughout Northeast Ohio. Events, brought to life by Brazilian musician Moises Borges, who has African and Indigenous lineage will feature a variety of traditional components which includes Samba music/ dancing , Afro-Brazilian Food, Capoeira - Afro-Brazilian body movement technique, Drummers - Interactive workshop on African/Brazilian rhythms and a Keynote Speaker on Brazilian history.

"An exhibition of visual art and music from the heart of dancers"
DJ Micaela spinning salsa, bachata,hip hop, tango, etc. and some artists/dancers showing their art work. Featuring :
-Micaela Colleen Barrett: (designs on paper and fabric). Mica has been making art since she was very little, and fine art continues to be a constant touchstone in her life. Here she'll be showing a few pieces exploring the act of creative improvisation within a structure, like communication between two dancers.
-Corah Simone (acrylic and lino print) Painter and printmaker, Corah will be exhibiting a series of pieces inspired by the motions of dance and nature.
-Moises Borges (photography/music) Photographer, song writer, tango dancer, Moises will host showing a short set of live music and bring in a set of Brazilian artifacts from his mom's indigenous tribe in Brazil.
-Jordan Wong - (Acrylic) Artist, illustrator, graphic designer, and tango dancer, Jordan Wong (WONGFACE) will be showcasing works that were originally client commissions. He is excited to nostalgically share these past creations with both art and tango lovers.
