While she grew up in Australia, traveled the world as a renowned Flamenco dancer, and now makes her home in Las Vegas, vocalist Andy James has always loved New York City – whether dreaming of the Big Apple from afar or exploring the always thriving jazz scene of the city as both listener and performer.
“New York City – what a town!” James exults. “It has always held a special place in my heart. On her latest album for Le Coq Records, James captures the vibrant tempo and exhilarating thrills always unfolding in the thoroughfares of the city that never sleeps.
Released on April 15, "Rhythm in New York" features a stunning mix of classic standards and original music inspired by life in Manhattan.

Bill Cunliffe - Piano/Keys/Arranger
With over 25 Solo CD's and extensive experience playing everything from Solo, Trio, Quintet, Octet, all the way to leading Big Bands, and being the featured Soloist with Complete Orchestras, Bill Cunliffe brings a wealth of experience to the stage. He won the very first Thelonious Monk Completion in 1989, and has gone on to receive Grammy's, is a tenured professor, and is a published author with several books on keyboard technique. His latest CD "Trio" features bassist John Patitucci, and drummer Vinnie Colaiuta.
Jon Cowherd - Piano/Keys/Arranger
Known for his long time collaboration with drummer Brian Blade in the Fellowship Band, Jon Cowherd has extensive experience as a Solo Artist with three CD releases, and major credits backing iconic vocalists including Joni Mitchell, Nora Jones, Lizz Wright, and many more.
Alex Acuna - Percussionist
Originally from Peru, Alex Acuna made his way to the States via Puerto Rico. Initially he was a member of famed Latin Bandleader Prez Prado's Orchestra. After moving to Las Vegas, and then Los Angeles in the mid 1970's, Acuna found fame as a member of the Jazz Super Group Weather Report in 1975-1976, and then has become one of the most sought after session musicians in Los Angeles. His credits include work with Paul McCartney, Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, and Joni Mitchell. His work has been featured on countess Major Motion Picture Soundtracks and Hit recordings. Now in his 70's, Alex Acuna is going strong and is as busy as ever!
Marvin "Smitty" Smith -Drums
A master percussionist and drummer, Marvin "Smitty" Smith has made over 200 recordings. He has toured with Sting, Sonny Rollins, Dave Holland, and was a member of the Tonight Show Orchestra under the leadership of guitarist Keven Eubanks from 1995-2009.
Kenny Davis - Bass With two solo releases, and a resume that includes work with Art Farmer, Gary Bartz, Don Byron, and many others, Kenny Davis is a first call bassist in the NYC area and tours worldwide. He is also a professor at Rutgers University in New Jersey. Jaleel Shaw - Alto Sax A Solo Artists since 2005, saxophonist Jaleel Shaw brings plenty of major jazz experience to the bandstand. His credits include work with Roy Haynes, the Mingus Big Band, Christian McBride, Roy Hargrove, Chic Corea, and many more! Alex Norris - Trumpet On the Scene in NYC since the early 90's trumpeter Alex Norris has extensive Big Band experience with the Village Vanguard Orchestra, the Toshiko Akiyoshi Orchestra, and small group experience with Brad Mehldau, Joshua Redman, Chris Potter, Mulgrew Miller, Betty Carter, and many others. His Latin Jazz credits are formidable too. He has worked with the Spanish Harlem Orchestra, Manny Oquendo, Paquito D'Rivera, Sammy Figueroa, and many others. Michael Dease - Trombone A full time professor at Michigan State University, trombonist Michael Dease is also a prolific performer. He has over 10 Solo CD releases, and has toured and recorded with David Sanborn, Roy Hargrove, Christian McBride, the Dizzy Gillespie All-Stars, and many more! Joel Frahm - Tenor Sax With 9 Solo CD's and extensive recording and touring experience, saxophonist Joel Frahm is a first call player in the NYC area. Moises Borges is a self taught acoustic-electric guitarist and singer born in Brazil. He grew up experimenting with rhythms such as bolero, baiao, xote, afoxe, frevo, forro, and especially Samba and Bossa Nova which are basic to his performances. Borges is dedicated to broadening the audience for Brazilian music by performing solo and with his band for the last 15 years and holds three nominations for the Brazilian International Press Awards USA as best Brazilian Instrumentalist living in the US. Moises has performed at numerous countries, venues and events including the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Severance Hall & Cleveland Playhouse Square. In 2020 he was finalist on the BDOLive song festival, a nationwide original music contest scoring in fourth place. Borges has become a prolific performer in the Northeast Ohio scene in recent years, a good storyteller, vivid and funny performer interpreting his original songs besides classics by Jobim, Gilberto, Bosco and many others. Far away from his native Brazil, the music of his homeland is very much alive when he is on stage.

This event has a limited capacity, if you want to attend please contact me (2162151455 text) so I put your name on the guest list and give you the address, as I can only add 25 people besides my friend's guests. I will play with Patrick Duke on drums, Gary Aprile on Bass, Mathew Horwich on saxophone. This will be at Brad's beautiful front yard near the lake for a pleasant afternoon. Free admission, the band will play on tips.
Some of the area’s finest musicians will perform at our third annual “Music Feeds People” fundraiser at the German Central Organization, 7863 York Rd, Parma. The event will begin at 5 p.m. with family-friendly music and activities, with live music from Moises Borges at 5:30 p.m, with Whiskey Island Ramblers taking the stage around 8 p.m. Chipolte-style bowls will be available from 6-8 p.m. while supplies last. There will be a cash bar as well. A 50/50 drawing, recognition of supporters, volunteers, and donors will all contribute to the night of fun and friends and be a night to be remembered. All proceeds will fund AFP’s efforts to feed those in need of supplementary non-perishable staple groceries as well as fresh fruit and vegetables.
